lara croft, the tomb raider
the hardest part of waking up in a new world was not the fact that she was now just a normal, average human being.
no, the hard part for lara croft was waking up a guy.
of course, that didn't bother her for long. she adjusted. sure, her clothes didn't fit anymore, but that was really just a good excuse to go shopping again. there was also the whole matter of guys having a different center of balance than women did, but she adjusted to that as well. it only took a couple of really bad, and really embarrassing, falls. that was five years ago. as one of the first game characters to come into this world, lara had a hand in helping to build game town from the bottom up.
and somewhere in there, lara croft became the law in game town. she's faced everything from bar brawls to bank robberies to honest-to-goodness espionage about this virus thing. she's done it all fearlessly. after all, nothing is ever really all that scary after you've faced a tyrannosaurus while armed with only a couple of handguns. it's possible that lara's view on danger and life in general are skewed, just a little.
she also manages to juggle her job with her hobbies. lara's hobbies just tend to border on the slightly illegal. before game town really got off the ground, lara fell back on hold habits. she robs tombs, after all, and this world has most of the same artifacts. and they are just as valuable. and not protected by convoluted traps or mystical zombie creatures. it was almost too easy to be the tomb raider in this world. one she got herself a nice financial cushion, though, and once she took up the safety and security of game town, she's not quite as willing to go globe-trotting.
she does, however, still own an assload of guns, and she's still a perfect shot. |
